Wedmore Real Ale Festival 2019
It’s (almost) September and that means our 19th festival is just around the corner (Friday 20th – Sunday 22th) and we can’t wait to get proceedings underway and show you how this year’s festival has so much more to offer.
Unlike previous festivals, this year’s festival will be held at Glebe Field, Manor Lane, Wedmore, BS28 4EQ, which is opposite the Wedmore village hall’s carpark. This new larger site allows us to offer you over 100 different choices of ale including the medal winners from this year’s Champion Beer of Britain, cider and we will also be offering craft ale for the first time at the festival, so come and enjoy our new wall of choice.
A range of food will be available throughout the weekend and on Friday night, Straytones will get our live music underway. Live local music will continue from noon until 6 pm on Saturday, followed by the Mantawrays and then our headliners Zuma.
Saturday night’s fancy dress theme is the 1980’s, so you now have a reason to dig out your favourite 80’s look and with DJ Enhance playing some classic 80’s hits once the live music comes to an end, you’ll have a jam-packed night of dancing ahead of you.
The festival opens at 7 pm on Friday and 11 am on Saturday and Sunday and continues until the bar closes at 11.30pm on both Friday and Saturday and draws to a close around 4 pm on Sunday. Food will be available throughout the weekend.
After 6 pm, admission to the festival will be £10 per person, which will include a 2019 festival pint cup to take away.
The auction will be back on Sunday afternoon with a wide range of enticing lots including a stay in a Morzine apartment for you to bid for. A raffle to win 100 bottles of Cheddar Ales, kindly donated by Cheddar Ales, and just to remind you, this year’s willing volunteers, who are willing to be soaked in cold beer in aid of charity at Sunday’s grand finale Beer Bucket Challenge are:
- Ian Monson
- Mark Darley
- Kev Buck
- Rob Bennett
- Andrew Scott
- Andy Reeson
- Steph Patch
- Lesley Williams
- Sharon Tucker
- Elaine Tilling
- Tabitha Morton
- Touchelle Smyth
- Paula Gledhill
Of course, one of the main objectives of the festival is to raise money for local worthy causes, so if you have a local worthy cause that you feel would benefit from a donation from the festival, please complete this year’s Application Form, which can be found on our website. All completed forms must be sent back to us by the 24th of September. The successful applicants will need to attend the presentation night on the 12th of October.
Last year we raised a staggering £18,150, so come along and enjoy the festival and help us to beat last year’s record for money raised for local worthy causes.

If you fancy the chance to pour ice cold beer over one of them, then don’t forget to be at our festival’s auction on the Sunday afternoon.
Last year’s Wedmore Real Ale Festival raised a whopping £18,150 for 11 local beneficiaries. This brings our grand total of fund-raising for local, worthy causes to just over a staggering £186,221 since the festival began back in 2001!
Planning is already well underway for this year’s 19th festival which takes place on Friday 20th – Sunday 22th September. This year’s festival is moving, but not very far, in fact we will be just opposite the village hall carpark in Glebe Field, Manor Lane, Wedmore, BS28 4EQ.
This year’s live music will come in the form of the Straytones on Friday night, live local music from noon until 6pm on the Saturday, followed by the Mantawrays and then our head liners Zuma. Our resident DJ Enhance will be with us throughout the festival again this year. Saturday night will have a 1980’s fancy dress theme, so there will definitely be some classic 80’s hits in Olly’s collection.
Alongside this musical line-up there will be over 100 different choices of real ales, craft ales, ciders, perrys and wine to satisfy all taste buds. Food will also be available throughout the weekend.
Evening admission to the festival will be £10 per person, which will include a 2019 festival pint glass to take away.
If you would like to support the festival by sponsoring a barrel of beer or cider, then please contact James Turbitt on email@example.com, who will be delighted to add you to our list of waiting sponsors.
We are also currently appealing for prizes and lots for the Sunday afternoon’s raffle and auction. If you have an item / service / promise that you wish to donate, please contact Sam Brown on firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to volunteer during the festival either to help us to set up in the mornings, during the festival or to clear up on the Sunday afternoon, then please contact Mike on 07794 781 975. Helping at such a social event really doesn’t feel like work at all.
Festival tops and hoodies are now available to order. The hoodies will only have the logo on the front left breast and will be available in various colours. So, if you want to get your festival top or hoodie in time to wear for the summer season, visit our website and complete the pre-order form. Deliveries will be available for collection in July.
We will keep you posted with next year’s festival news, so please like our Facebook page @wedmorerealalefestival, follow us on twitter @WedmoreRealAle.
We look forward to seeing you all again in September!
