Wedmore Village – Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator

Special Note 4 Aug:  There are several senior people performing the Coordinator role for many years and would like to retire.  This is not an onerous task.  Could you please give some of your valuable time?

There are 30 Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators around Wedmore village and they do the following:

  • provide information such as  – know when to use 101/999 (UK Police)
  • remind their “beat” people about being vigilant and sign-post the  guidelines for reporting an incident as directed by Avon & Somerset Police – see (https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report/)
  • disseminate alerts  via email to their “beat” houses in their street(s) from the Avon & Somerset Police Administrator
  • send out other emails received from say Action Fraud or National Neighbourhood Watch
  • provide any crime statistics from our area that are emailed from the Avon & Somerset Police Administrator
  • communicate to local police as and when necessary, using the following:
North East Somerset team  web (see very bottom) page
  •  Relay any incident that may affect the whole village to the Police Administrator to consider further transmission to all coordinators

The above list looks time-consuming but one very active coordinator says   “I spend around 30 minutes a month performing Neighbourhood Watch needs”
