Isle of Wedmore News – August
Parish Council business
The June meeting was held in Wedmore Village Hall and was the first face to face meeting since March 2020. It was well attended with only one Councillor absent on holiday. The members agreed to carry out some improvement work at the cemetery on Cheddar Road which will involve creating a demarcation zone between the car park and the edge of the grass and laying a layer of blue shale. It was also agreed to press ahead with plans to erect a small shed on a patch of land at the allotments in Combe Lane where allotment holders can swap and share plants and seeds, excess produce etc. Due to a recent surge of enquiries from new residents on the Wedmore Grange development there are currently no plots available to rent. Mrs Cathy Butterworth and some of her helpers will be running another “Health & Wellbeing” event in the village later in the year. The Council agreed to support the project as it has previously. The exhibitions were well attended and directories were circulated to every house in the parish.
Cllr Jo Keen has decided to step down after serving on the Council for just over two years. We are all extremely grateful for the work she has undertaken. The Council will now be seeking to co-opt new member as a replacement
