Important News from the Wedmore Parish Council – September 2022

September! My favourite month, not only because it’s my birthday (YAY), but also
because the children go back to school and life seems to get a little more ‘normal’ again.

Firstly, thank you all so much for your positive feedback on this little space I take up every month. It’s greatly appreciated and I’m pleased so many of you are enjoying getting to know more about “behind the scenes” of the Parish Council.

Oh, also, although my intentions were good with the bench building last month, I realise it was perhaps presumptuous to have thought they would have been built and sited by the time you received last month’s copy.

Hopefully, I won’t have to make the same apology next month, and you will indeed
have had the opportunity to try the new benches out.

On to business – What have the Parish Council been up to since we last caught
up, I hear you cry?!

Well, I am very pleased to say they have been busy recruiting new members, so, over the coming months, you will start to see some more faces and names appearing in the
minutes and on agendas. Of course, there are still spaces, so if you would like to try
your hand at something new, you have a little bit of time and would like to make our
community better than ever, please get in touch.

They have been addressing long overdue maintenance issues with the benches and notice boards around the Parish and will be looking at the public conveniences too.

Finally, now I know, I know, you get a warm fuzzy feeling when you think about the Clerk of the Parish Council, BUT if for any reason you would like to see me drenched in beer, and you have some time and money to spare, you will be pleased to know I have agreed to be in the line-up for this year’s Beer Bucket Challenge at Wedmore’s Real Ale Festival. ‘Chants to self’ It’s all for the good of the community, It’s all for the good of the community! Hopefully, I will see lots of you there ‘supporting’ me.

Now, actually finally – ‘bird nesting season’ is now finished so if you’ve been holding
off giving that hedge a good prune, you are now good to go!

Have a great September!
