Parish Council business
The first meeting of the New Year was well attended. Cllr David Huxtable, Somerset County Councillor was in attendance and listened to several complaints from Councillors concerning the ongoing road works in the Wookey area resulting in a lengthy closure of the Wells Road resulting in delays and disruption to workers and the 67 bus users. He offered to take up the matter with Bristol Water, the main contractor and other Councillors to see if any alterations to the plan could be made. As I write there have been some amendments to the original planned closure which could see some improvement over the coming weeks. Some residents of Glanville Road expressed concerns that the recently laid yellow lines had been incorrectly placed. This would be passed to the Highways Engineer for further consideration. Members awarded a grant of £1000 to Wedmore Scouts towards the refurbishment of the kitchen at the Wedmore Scout Hut. This money together with another grant from Sedgemoor would enable the much needed project to proceed.
