Local food and drink businesses can now take advantage of a bespoke support package put together by Somerset West and Taunton and Sedgemoor District Councils.
Following on from research and surveys, the Councils have designed a tailored programme that is aimed at businesses in the food and drink sector. Those that take part will be able to apply for a grant of up to £2,500.
In order to qualify, businesses are required to sign up to free training programme, Thrive. Thrive offers a free review meeting, 1 to 1 support and a range of workshops and training sessions.

Once signed up, businesses will have to attend at least one of many expert workshops that are available. Topics will cover labelling and allergens advice, IP and supplying the public sector among others. Alternatively businesses can request of up to 2 hours of free expert advice from The Trading Standards.
Those that complete these two steps will be able to apply for a grant of up to £2,500 to support their business.
Applications will open in December, applicants will need to demonstrate how the grant will support their business. Applications will be assessed on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
