Bridgwater Summer festival is back!.

Once again, Sedgemoor District Council is pleased to support the very popular Quayside Festival in Bridgwater on July 9th.

There is a packed programme of fun and events. Copies of the program will be printed two weeks before the event and distributed to town centre shops/cafes and cultural venues.

There is an exciting line-up in the town centre on the Music Stage, Cultural venues, Blake Gardens, East Over, Fore street, West Quay, High Street and Clare Street.

Free support for agricultural businesses to help navigate the latest changes

With so much change going on in the agricultural industry, Thrive can help you work out what’s right for your farm business. Sit down for free with one of their experienced agricultural advisors who can assess your business, make sense of the latest schemes such as SFI, and develop a plan to get you where you need to be.

Whether that’s helping with funding applications, explaining the latest schemes and ensuring you are compliant, as well as advising on areas such as business planning, benchmarking, diversification and succession planning, they can guide you through,

As well as this free one-to-one support, they are also running free workshops on a range of topics such as tree planting, SFI soil standards, digital skills and financial forecasting to name a few.

Somerset Food Trail 15 – 24 July

The annual Food Trail sees smaller-scale farmers and artisan food producers across the county, opening their doors to the public at set times over 10 days for tastings and tour galore, with farm shops, pubs and eateries offering a farm-to-fork showcase of the best local food and drink around.

Business Support Programme Update

Back in November 2021 Sedgemoor District Council ran a couple of grant schemes allowing local businesses to apply for funding to help them deliver improvements and grow their business. Over 90 businesses were successful and below you can read about one of them.

We have now completed the project and have some amazing new facilities at our new Bridgwater HQ.

Thanks to the grant we were able to install LED lighting across the premises helping to reduce our energy use throughout the building. We installed a dedicated training room that can host up to 16 students at a time where we will be able to upskill the local community to become professional nail and beauty therapists. We have already started to deliver courses from our new HQ. We now also have a much needed warehouse space for our products stock along with a purpose built front of house trade sales shop which has seen excellent footfall since we announce it opened back in February.
