Somerlap has been a proud Somerset firm for over 40 years, and now this family-run business is enabling its employees to share in its success.
Earlier this year, Somerlap became an Employee Ownership Trust. This means that its employees now enjoy a part-ownership, with shares held in a trust. Employees can benefit as soon as their probationary period of employment is completed, and through the board of trustees, all staff have a voice in the future direction of Somerlap.
With most staff being local to its premises in Mark, this decision demonstrates Somerlap’s commitment to the local area in which it operates, as well as to the people it employs.
Somerlap’s Managing Director Kevin Bond said, “Like any business, our employees are our most valuable asset. Many of them have been loyal to us for a number of years, offering consistency and a familiar face to customers; whilst newer members of our team bring new ideas and fresh enthusiasm. By turning Somerlap into an Employee Ownership Trust we are able to reward all of them for their efforts. We look forward to working together on the future direction of our company.”
