The ‘Plenty Thirst’ Wedmore Real Ale Festival (9th – 11th September 2022)

Read all about it:

It’s September and Wedmore will soon be opening its doors once again to the Wedmore Real Ale Festival, which will be running its 21st festival at the glorious site, Glebe Field, Manor Lane, Wedmore, BS28 4EQ. Remember it is free to enter until 6 pm when entrance charges will then apply.

The festival opens at 7 pm on Friday and 11 am on Saturday and Sunday. The bar closes at 11.30 pm on both Friday and Saturday and draws to a close around 4 pm on Sunday.

Please note that at 6 pm all under 18s will have to leave the site. Admission to the festival will be £15 per person, which includes a 21st festival polycarb pint cup to take away.

There will be over 110 barrels of ale, craft beer and cider on tap as well as a selection of wine and a gin bar, courtesy of Gin Jar.

This year’s food will be provided by:

  • Ethic Street Pizza & Grill
  • Biblos
  • Little Van Rouge

Headline live music will be provided by one of our popular local bands, One For The Road, who will be performing on Friday evening. In keeping with this year’s jubilee theme, Queen Rocks will be belting out hit after hit for us all to get up and dance to on Saturday evening. So, as this year’s theme will be the Unofficial Queen’s Jubilee, your fancy dress options are Queen, the Royal Family or anything Jubilee!

There will also be a silent disco on Sat afternoon between 3 and 5 pm, so the kids can enjoy themselves too.

The auction will be back on Sunday afternoon with a wide range of lots for you to bid for and we’ll also hold the draw for the festival raffle.

Another popular fundraiser is Sunday’s grand finale Beer Bucket Challenge. This year’s willing volunteers, who have agreed to be soaked in cold beer in aid of charity, are:

  1. Anne Childs
  2. Babs Lloyd
  3. Helen Hemmings
  4. Jo Blackburn
  5. Lyndsay Baker
  6. Sue Ham
  7. Andy Mulliner
  8. Brian Connell
  9. David Eccles
  10. Ed Mckinley
  11. James Loughrey
  12. Paul Tatterton

Of course, one of the main objectives of the festival is to raise money for local worthy causes, so if you have a suitable cause that would benefit from a donation from the festival, please complete this year’s Application Form, which can be found on our website https://wedmorerealale.co.uk/funding-application/. All completed forms must be sent back to us by the 12th September. The successful applicants will need to attend the presentation night on the 1st October.

In 2021, we raised a staggering £20,000, so come along and enjoy the festival and help us to raise more money for our local causes and add to the £226,320 the festival has already raised since 2001.
