Don Boyd, a legend in the world of film, will speak at Wedmore Arts Festival

Don Boyd is an award-winning film director and producer who has been responsible for many iconic British films, commercials and documentaries. He directed Intimate Reflections and East of Elephant Rock and produced Alan Clarke’s Scum, Derek Jarman’s The Tempest, Lindsay Anderson’s Look Back In Anger, and War Requiem starring Laurence Olivier and Tilda Swinton. He later returned to directing with Goldeneye starring Charles Dance, Twenty One (Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance), Kleptomania, Lucia and My Kingdom starring Richard Harris.

He lectures widely, most particularly at the University of Exeter where he is an Honorary Professor. At Wedmore Arts Festival he will chiefly be talking about the challenges of film adaptation, including some of his own work which has included adaptations of Shakespeare, John Osborne, Ibsen and books by Beryl Bainbridge and P D James.
