Wedmore – first walk event Saturday 24th October

Hello all,
As promised this Saturday is the first Wedmore walk event. I think it’s important to promote healthy outdoor events during this time of ongoing restrictions.

Why?
To promote awareness of both good and poor paths, to promote exercise and wellbeing for all for free, to find useful arterial paths from the periphery into the village for future walking promotions and events, reinstate the old tradition of boundary walks and ultimately to find local volunteers adopting path or even reviving the old tradition of the lengthsman for our important paths.

When?
Anytime you want but make a stop outside Wedmore village hall between 2-5 pm to share your observations of the path you walked, collect a leaflet, sign up for future events including a repair team.

Where?
any official path via the village hall. Use a1:25000 OS map or one of the many apps

On your walk. PLEASE bring a pair of secateurs and do a bit of simple clearing yourself rather than report a small issue to the county rights of way team. If you find a big problem make sure you have the exact location and report it to us on the day or on the definitive map.

COVID guidance.
Unfortunately, the village hall is not really suitable for walkers to enter and sit and after the walk as advertised so it will just be a small reception group to gleam your ideas and comments.
The groups you walk with are your own affairs but please keep your distance from others when close to the table at the village hall and put on a mask. After that head off for a well-earned drink in a pub or cafe!
