Parish Council – June 2018 News

 Parish Council Business

At the April meeting, the members agreed to make a grant to “Wedmore in Bloom” as a “thankyou” for all their efforts around the village.  The floral displays are very much enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and I receive many comments and e-mails during the year praising the efforts of the WIB members.  Other matters discussed were mainly confined to financial and business requirements. This was the last meeting to be chaired by Nick Avery who has held the position of Chairman for the past two years.  His successor will be elected at the May meeting.

A note from the Chair of the Cemetery Committee

Glenys Cousins wishes to thank all our volunteers who came to the cemetery on a sunny April morning to assist with our spring tidy up. Harold, Bill, Howard and John continued to reinstate the grassed over pathways while Liz, Fiona, Jill and Mary weeded and tidied the Garden of Remembrance. We also filled 6 black sacks mainly with plastic wreaths which had been left on graves since Christmas. The whole place looked a picture by the end of the morning, just in time for the rain to start. It is hoped to have a further tidy up in the autumn.
