Our Summer production is announced
The local charity, Wedmore Village Farm, has asked us to perform Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream on midsummer’s day – 21st June – on their site as a fundraiser for them. They are even building a terrific big stage for us, complete with a roof (in case it rains – which it won’t, of course!)
For Wedmore Theatre this is a return to big blockbuster productions, with a cast of 25+, aged 8 to 80, and with music, song, dance and farcical comedy.
As well as young Faeries, we need a good spread of adults up to age 80 to play the romantic leads, courtiers, royals, jesters and of course the comic Rude Mechanicals.
Sue Rippon will be directing, with Alan Philps as Associate Director. Alan will also take a leading role onstage, and we have a strong production team in place. Now it’s time to cast the rest of the actors. We don’t hold auditions, so we have a meeting set up in Wedmore Village Hall at 4 pm on Sunday 2nd February, for all those interested in having a part or in helping backstage as part of the team of creatives, to exchange ideas with us on the production, with a view to signing up as a member of the team. (Delicious refreshments will be served, natch!)
So please come to the meeting on the 2nd February. And if you can’t come but would like a role, do let us know at productions@wedmoretheatre.com
