Our 18th festival, was our most successful yet.
Many thanks to all our brilliant sponsors, prize donators and volunteers for their continued support and for working hard to help us make the 2018 festival the best yet!
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, our wonderful volunteers and all those that attended, drank, bid, danced, raffled, ate and made merry at the 18th Wedmore Real Ale Festival, we’re delighted to announce that this year’s festival was our most successful festival yet and generated a whopping £18,150 for local worthy causes.
Representatives from no less than 11 local beneficiaries gathered at our annual presentation night on Saturday 13th October held at The New Inn in Wedmore and picked up cheques ranging from £300 to £10,000, that will in turn provide welcome assistance to a wide and varied cross section of our community.
The concept of the WRAF from its infancy to the present day has always been about promoting and championing real ale. It’s a fantastic coincidence for one and all that in doing so we’ve raised and donated £186,221.00 in the last 18 years to the local worthy causes.
The Wedmore Real Ale Festival Committee is delighted to announce that this year’s festival beneficiaries were:
IOW Remembers WW1 | £300.00 |
Friends of St Mary’s Church | £350.00 |
Wedmore in Bloom | £450.00 |
Wedmore Tuesday Club | £500.00 |
Brainwave | £1,000.00 |
Children’s Hospice South West | £1,000.00 |
Somewhere House Somerset | £1,000.00 |
Blackford Village Hall | £1,000.00 |
Wedmore Scout Group | £1,050.00 |
Wedmore and Axbridge Community Health Fund | £1,500.00 |
Wedmore Playing Fields Management Committee | £10,000.00 |
Total | £18,150.00 |
Cheques were issued to all the successful beneficiaries, followed by food, drink and conversation.
A big thank you to The New Inn for their continued support, hosting and hospitality this year, it is very much appreciated.
