Wedmore Real Ale Festival 2018
It will soon be September, and that means it festival time, so don’t forget to keep the weekend free. Doors open at Wedmore Village Hall on Friday 14th at 7pm and if the previous years are anything to go by, we are expecting another full house of festival goers enjoying this year’s real ale and cider delights.
This year’s festival will, as always, centre around a fun theme and will include an incredible mix of live music: Kindred, one of Wedmore’s popular live bands, will be opening the festival’s live music on Friday night, and Bad Edukation, who brought the house down on the Friday of last year’s festival, will be Saturday’s main act. We will also be showcasing live local music on Saturday afternoon/early evening and, last but not least, our legendary DJ Olly Eade from DJ Enhance will also be with us all weekend.
This year we will have 65 different choices of real ales, 23 different ciders, wine and prosecco to choose from and food will also be available throughout the weekend.
Evening admission to the festival will be £5 per person, which will include a 2018 festival pint glass to take away. Our ever-popular fancy-dress theme on Saturday evening will be London Tube Stations, so start planning how you can turn one of the capital’s many tube stations into an eye-catching and inventive costume – there are loads of great of ideas online.
If you would like to volunteer during the festival either to help set up in the mornings, during the festival or clear up on the Sunday afternoon, then please contact Mike Bewick on 07794 781975. Helping at such a social event really doesn’t feel like work at all.
Festival tops and hoodies are now available to order. The hoodies will only have the logo on the front left breast and will be available in various colours. So, if you want to get your festival top or hoodie in time to wear for the summer season, visit our website and complete the pre-order form.
The Beer Bucket Challenge is also back this year and this year’s willing contestants who are no doubt looking forward to being soaked in cold beer in aid of charity are:
Rich Macarthur
Garry Stimpson
Bill Sutton
Chris McKinley
Andrew Scott
Jason Collins
Will Plummer
Ewart Jackson-Vozey
Sarah Maddock
Sam Brown
Clare Bean
